When Every Inch Matters: A Remodel Built on Precision and Creativity

The 2971 project in the Salt Lake area was a full-scale remodel that pushed both creativity and precision to the limit. This was a true transformation, from layout changes to architectural details, and one of those projects that reminds you why thoughtful design matters.

Full Demolition and Master Suite Conversion

The project began with a full demolition, clearing the way for a complete rework of the home. Two rooms were converted into a spacious master suite, creating a private retreat that felt intentional and well-balanced within the overall layout.

Complete Kitchen Rebuild

Next came a full kitchen rebuild, designed to better support both daily living and entertaining. The kitchen became a central gathering space, anchored by strong architectural details that helped tie the room together visually.

The fireplace was the only element salvaged from the original home. We tore the mantle apart and rebuilt it with a sleek, modern feel, preserving what worked while elevating the design to match the rest of the remodel.

Architectural Details That Create Balance

One of the standout features of this remodel was the use of decorative ceiling beams, intentionally designed to draw the eye toward the center of the room. These beams created a cohesive visual unit, adding balance and harmony. This change felt especially impactful in a space meant for hosting and entertaining.

This kind of architectural detailing is what takes a remodel from “updated” to truly cohesive.

Adding Bathrooms Where Every Inch Mattered

To improve functionality, we:

  • Added a half bath upstairs

  • Added a full bath downstairs

The half bath was by far the greatest challenge of the project. Tucked behind the staircase, it offered zero room for error - every half inch mattered. Designing and executing that space felt like playing the most intense game of chess I've ever played. Every move had to be exact.

And in the end? Checkmate.

The finished bathroom looks effortless in photos, but those images don’t fully capture the complexity and precision required to make it work.

A Rewarding Remodel in the Salt Lake Area

This project was challenging, strategic, and incredibly rewarding. From salvaging and modernizing the fireplace to solving impossible-feeling layout constraints, the 2971 remodel is a great example of how smart design and careful execution can transform a home.

If you’re considering a home remodel in the Salt Lake area, whether it’s a full demolition, master suite conversion, kitchen rebuild, or bathroom addition, this project proves that even the tightest spaces can become something beautiful with the right approach.
