From Full Demolition to Cohesive Design: A Whole-Home Remodel Story

The Garfield project in Salt Lake City was a milestone remodel for our team. This was a full-scale transformation that touched nearly every part of the home—and it marked the first time we fully leaned into architectural aesthetics as a driving design force. From demolition to custom details, this project pushed boundaries and delivered some of our most rewarding results to date.

Full Demolition and Master Suite Conversion
The remodel began with a full demolition, clearing the way for a complete reimagining of the layout. Two existing rooms were converted into a spacious master suite, creating a private retreat that felt intentional, comfortable, and well-balanced within the home.
The master bathroom quickly became one of our favorite spaces. The shower we designed entirely from scratch, breaking away from standard market expectations and typical “safe” choices. My rebellious spirit was thrilled, and the end product speaks for itself.
Complete Kitchen Rebuild
Next came a full kitchen rebuild, designed to better serve the flow of the home while complementing its new architectural direction. This wasn’t just an update, it was a ground-up rethink of how the kitchen functioned and connected to the surrounding spaces.
Kitchen remodels like this are a cornerstone of many Salt Lake City home renovations, and this one set the tone for the rest of the project.
Structural Beam and Architectural Payoff
One of the most defining moments of the Garfield remodel was the installation of a major structural beam. After tearing out a wall to make room for it, the amount of prep work required was significant. There was a moment where I looked at my team and said, “You all sure have a lot of trust in me.”
Thankfully, that trust paid off. The finished beam tied seamlessly into the existing wood trusses, creating a cohesive architectural feature that elevated the entire space. For me, this was the biggest payoff of the project, where vision and execution truly met.
Bathrooms Added for Comfort and Functionality
To improve everyday livability, we added a half bath upstairs and a full bath downstairs. These additions made the home far more functional for both daily use and guests, while also increasing long-term value, an important consideration in any home remodel.
Salvaging the Garage and Enhancing Outdoor Living
Rather than rebuilding from scratch, we were able to salvage the existing garage, preserving structure while improving usability. Out back, we added a new awning, creating the perfect shaded spot for quiet morning coffee and relaxed outdoor time.
Small outdoor upgrades like this often have an outsized impact on how homeowners enjoy their space.
A Project That Reinforced Why We Love Remodeling
The Garfield project was bold, challenging, and deeply satisfying. From architectural beams and custom trusses to rule-breaking bathroom design, this remodel reminded us why we love what we do.
If you’re considering a home remodel in the Salt Lake area, whether it’s a full demolition, master suite conversion, kitchen rebuild, or architecturally driven renovation, this project proves that trusting the process (and sometimes breaking the rules) can lead to incredible results.
