This Salt Lake City home remodel was truly one of a kind. From the construction methods to the final reveal, this project delivered surprises at every stage, and an end result that completely redefined the home’s feel, inside and out.

A Unique Upstairs Layout with Built-In Bookcase Walls

One of the most unusual features of this home was the way the upstairs was divided. Instead of traditional framed walls, the kitchen, bedrooms, and bathroom were separated by floor-to-ceiling bookcases. While unconventional, this actually worked in our favor, these partitions were easy to tear out and break down, allowing us to reimagine the space without major structural hurdles.

Converting an Upstairs Bedroom into a Master Suite

As part of this Salt Lake City remodel, one of the upstairs bedrooms was transformed into a full master suite. Reworking the layout created a more functional and private retreat, giving the homeowners a true primary space that better fit their lifestyle.

Once the kitchen was opened up, the entire environment shifted. What had previously felt segmented and tight became open, inviting, and connected. Before the renovation, the basement was dark, dated, and honestly pretty doom and gloom. Our full basement remodel completely changed that. We added two new bedrooms, a dedicated washer and dryer area, and a much-needed bathroom upgrade.

Exterior Surprise and a Major Curb Appeal Win

Outside, ivy had completely overtaken the home’s exterior. As we began removing debris and overgrowth, we were all shocked to discover a brick wall hidden underneath. That unexpected find became one of the highlights of the project.

Cleaning up and restoring the exterior revealed the home’s true character, and the transformation delivered the biggest reward of the entire remodel: incredible curb appeal. The house went from overlooked to eye-catching almost overnight.
